I love octopuses (or, as some say, octopi). I just read a book about these amazing animals and, coupled with a quick Instagram video of an octopus, I was inspired to create a murrini eye.
Murrini are glass discs that are created using a process of layering glass into a big blob, then pulling it out into a cane (rod). The cane is then cut into slices (discs), for micro-detailed designs. The last photo shows a ‘blob’ prior to heating it up and pulling it into a cane.
This bead was built on a base of periwinkle blue with transparent aqua swirls. The octopus is a bright orange with turquoise blue polka dots. I hand cut the copper tag, stamped it, antiqued it, and polished it to shine.
This necklace comes on a 24″ metal ball chain as pictured. If you would like to swap or upgrade the chain, please see options below.
